Monster Python: 17ft Snake Caught In Florida
The biggest Burmese python ever caught in Florida has been measured at 17ft and weighing 12st.
The snake was pregnant with 87 eggs - also said to be a record.Scientists said the python's stats show just how pervasive the invasive snakes, which are native to Southeast Asia, have become in south Florida.
"It means these snakes are surviving a long time in the wild," said Kenneth Krysko, a snake expert at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
Tens of thousands of Burmese pythons are believed to be living in the Everglades, where they thrive in the warm, humid climate. The snakes kill their prey by coiling around it and suffocating it. They have been known to swallow animals as large as deer and alligators.

Zaaki Azzay's 8 year marriage ends; wife claims years of battery
After 8 years and three children together, Zaaki Azzay's marriage to
Hadiza Azzay has ended. The marriage actually ended four months ago but
we are all getting to know about it now because the ex-couple are
involved in a bitter custody battle. They police are even now involved.
29 year old Hadiza told me she packed out of her husband's house on April 17th after being badly battered the day before by Zaaki. She was able to leave with two of her children, but the third one, her eldest child is still living at home.
She said he had been battering her for years, sometimes he would beat her so much she would faint, but her family kept telling her to go back to him for the sake of their children. She said she left him twice last year but returned to him after much pressure from family and friends. But when the battery continued, she made up her mind to end her marriage for good because she didn't want to be another dead wife.
Hadiza was a housewife, so since leaving her husband she has been under the care of an NGO that takes care of battered women. They've given her and her children shelter and are taking up her case.
She will issue an official press statement telling her side of the story in the coming days...right now she's dealing with the police who arrested her for allegedly 'kidnapping' her own children. She says Zaaki has been using the police to harass her.

M.I, Omawumi announced as the hosts of The Headies 2012
Omawumi Megbele |
Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga |
Announcing this today, executive producer Ayo Animashaun says the pair have been selected in line with the awards’ tradition of picking talented and inspiring entertainers, to front an awards ceremony that parades some of the continent’s biggest entertainers
Omawumi, 30, came second on West Africa Idol, in 2007. Her success on that show provided a strong foundation for her career, and she hasn’t looked back for a minute. With her debut single ‘In the music’ released in 2008, she established herself as a talent to court, and a singer whose eyes are on the global stage. The success of that single, won her the coveted ‘Next Rated’ prize at The Headies in 2009. The award came with a brand new KIA Optima. Omawumi has moved on to become a remarkably successful singer, actor, performer and philanthropist.
Omawumi’s co-host M.I, has risen from grass to grace, in just about half a decade. And, from a Jos-bred wanna -be, who worked hard to find a niche in the hip hop community, M.I has now become the leading rapper and hip hop ambassador on the continent, with many medals to show for his achievements. The Chocolate City rapper is a multiple winner at The Headies, with his prizes including Best Rap Album and Revelation of the year (both in 2009). He has won a total of 9 Headies, starting from his first surprise win in 2008.
“It’s a very important year for us at The Headies, and for the Nigerian music industry in general’, Animashaun, who founded the awards in 2006 says. “And we found in M.I and Omawumi, two great entertainers who are very passionate about the awards, passionate about their work, passionate about the music business and a great source of inspiration to young, up and coming artistes, because of their peculiar stories climbing up”.
