Nigeria today, joined Ghana in the use of Mobile
Portability Number (MNP). This allows mobile subscribers to move from one
network to another without changing their numbers.
Telecoms
subscribers in the country have shown excitement at the dawn of this new era.
MNP reduces switching cost of updating marketing
and business materials, notifying family members, repainting business vans
because of changed numbers e.t.c.
To network Providers, it boosts the level of open
competition among networks operators, it becomes easier for new entrants to
gain market share, it acts as incentive for service providers to improve on
quality of service and customer satisfaction.
So Nigerians can now switch from one network to
another without changing numbers. Over to you Nigerians!
