New York blast, Mayor says no evidence on terror connection at this point

On Saturday the 17th of September, 2016 eve of the UN assembly meeting, West 23rd street in Chelsea section of Manhattan, New York city was hit with an explosion at about 8.30pm. At least 29 people have been reported to have suffered minor injuries. 


New York city's mayor Bill De Blasio said in a statement at a news conference that "There is no specific and credible threat against New York City at this point in time from any terror organization", he also said that it was too early to determine what caused the incident. He said they believe it was intentional and that a full investigation is under way," .

The police has ruled out the possibility of gas or faulty construction equipment to be the cause of the blast. The street has been blocked and investigations are ongoing.
