Update On Military Troops Activity Against The Boko haram Sect In North Eastern Nigeria: Residents of Bornu Flee!

After the Nigerian Military troops had killed some people suspected to be members of the book haram sect, most of Nigerian dailies have reported that more than 2,000 Nigerians living in border villages in Borno State have fled because of the ongoing military operations aimed at defeating insurgents from the area since the declaration of the emergency rule.

Many of the villagers have been reported to flee to neighbouring Niger Republic. The fleeing residents did not only head to Niger, they also fleed to neighbouring states such as Kano and bauchi states.

Some reports has it that the Joint Military Task Force extricated the boko haram sect from the Sambisa Game Reserve and other camps on in Borno State.(one of the North Eastern States of Nigeria).

Come to think of it, this people have been left with no choice than to flee: A popular Nigerian saying goes thus: When two elephants fight, the ants and the grass surely suffer. They sure don’t want to be caught in the line of fire! So the only option for them as they presume is to flee!

More updates coming...

Kim K, On High Heel With Swollen Feet (Edema), But Why Do Women Experience Edema?

Now that's Kim K, Squeezing her feet into high heels! *Sigh* the babe no gree sha! And heels it must be!

But Why do women have swollen feet during pregnancy? The condition is called Edema.
Answer is:

During pregnancy, body fluids increase in order to nurture both mother and baby. As the body tissues accumulate and retain fluids, you may experience the swelling particularly swollen ankles and feet. Research says it’s pretty harmless and perfectly normal.
It's also just as normal not to experience noticeable swelling (I read that 25 percent of pregnant women don't).
So that’s it! Just in case you were wondering!

Former Ryanair Air Hostess Reveals How They Were Forced To Buy Their Own £360 Uniforms and Are Forced To Take 3 months Unpaid Leave!

Ryanair’s former air hostess who was employed by Crewlink, a contractor for Ryanair, has revealed the harsh treatment she was subjected to.

She said working conditions were 'a total nightmare'. She also described how she was forced to take three months unpaid leave a year, during winter, her contract did not allow her to take another job and she had to pay £360 for a Ryanair uniform.

This is how The Independent is reporting it:

They tend to look pretty miserable, and now perhaps we will understand why. A former member of Ryanair's cabin crew has blown the whistle on the conditions of work at Europe's largest budget airline.

Sophie Growcoot contacted her local MP to reveal that her employment contract with Crewlink, a contractor for Ryanair forced her to take three months compulsory unpaid leave a year – in the quiet winter months – during which she would be forbidden to take another job but receive no money.
Made her pay £360 for a Ryanair uniform. She had to pay another £1,800 towards a mandatory safety course.

Only paid her for the hours that she was actually "in the air". She was not paid for pre-flight briefings, turnaround time between flights, sales meetings and time on the ground due to delays and flight cancellations. The hourly flying rate was just £13.07 an hour with no contractual review for three years.

Paid her for only four days work a week. On the fifth she was expected to be on call and to turn up for work with an hour's notice. Standby days were not paid unless she was called in to work.

Dividends of Emergency Rule, Boko Haram's Camp Captured by Troops In Borno State

After President Jonathan declared the emergency rule on Thursday, reports from several media indicates that the Nigerian Troops deployed had captured three of the local government areas where insurgents had been in control in Northern Borno.

Boko haram had been in control of the following areas in Borno Marte, Magumeri, Mobbar, Gubio, Guzamala, Abadamin, Kukawa, Kaga, Nganzai and Monguno local governments.

President Goodluck Jonathan had said that all efforts to bring the violence in the area under control had failed hence the need to use force to flush insurgents out of the states, especially Borno.

Here’s how a major report culled from Punch

EARLY reports of military operations in the three North-East states under emergency rule, on Thursday, indicated that Nigerian soldiers had recaptured three of the local government areas where insurgents had been in control in northern Borno.

The names of the recaptured councils could not be confirmed out of the lot in possession of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The areas where the insurgents were said to have been in total control before the military operation launched on Thursday were Marte, Magumeri, Mobbar, Gubio, Guzamala, Abadamin, Kukawa, Kaga, Nganzai and Monguno.

Also, the troops reportedly invaded and took over a training camp of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, known as Sambisa on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, in the early hours of Thursday.

Do you Know: That The Flood Continues In Ejigbo L.C.D.A

Last Week, a post was put up about the Flood in Ejigbo L.C.D.A it's Here if you missed it. This week, Lagos has experienced more rains, and like you'd suspect, more floods.

The people who live here are lamenting about this situation as it is pathetic, cars gets broken down because of the flood, the traffic is heavy daily, because of the cars (broken down),  plus life becomes excruciating for the residents of this area.

That's not all, who would send a child to school in this flooded main road, the drainages are filled to the brim and overflowing with murky water to mention a few.

I'm speaking the minds of the residents of Ejigbo L.C.D.A in Lagos state, we pray the L.C.D.A Chairman to do something about the flood! Particularly the drainages. Many of them have been in existence for more than 2 decades with little or no maintenance.

This is an opportunity for the L.C.D.A chairman to educate his people via publications, media e.t.c about environmental care.

President Goodluck Jonathan's Quote

Thank God that our dear president has finally taken a stand. We are kinda tired of hearing that he condemns the terrorist attacks that have been ravaging the northern part of Nigeria. I guess this is a sign that God has answered our prayers, as we expect more ACTION from the ASO Rock!

Here's a quote from his speech/declaration of state of emergency in Bornu, Yobe and Adamawa!

“I want to reassure you all that those who are directly or indirectly encouraging any form of rebellion against the Nigerian state, and their collaborators; those insurgents and terrorists who take delight in killing our security operatives, whoever they may be, wherever they may go, we will hunt them down, we will fish them out, and we will bring them to justice. No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror.” - GEJ

*Thumbs Up* for GEJ

Are Nurses In Lagos Rude?

Are Nurses in Lagos rude? Have you had any experience so far that depicts them as rude?

Here's my experience, and this is one of many other experiences i've had.

I went to LASUTH to visit someone who was a patient in one of the wards. I missed my way and ventured to enter another ward but only to inquire about the precise ward i wanted to visit. So i approached one of the nurses at her table (which was at the entrance of a ward). I was trying to tell her my plight, the next thing i get is ''madam what are you looking for (in a sarcastic tone, eyebrow raised, and she had this angry look on her face, (like say na me offend am)). Please please just go out there'' she continued.

I was trying to explain and tell her the name of the patient i was looking for. She cut me off in a final tone and said he is not in this ward, go and ask someone else. Jeez! Had i not been a gentle lady that i am, i would have picked a quarrel with her.

But off i go, i had a mission and would not let the hatefullish nurse distract me. I eventually found a janitor, (after roaming for some expensive minutes), who then told me where i can find the ward. Shikena!!!

What would it have cost this nurse to just tell me madam you are not allowed here, but you can take right, left, up, side, e.t.c you'll get to this mystery ward!

Now my question is, do you feel that nurses are rude? I don't want to think am alone on this. I believe that whatever is worth doing at all, is worth doing well. Where has job ethics and courtesy gone to? Even if you work for the government hello!! you represent them.

So tell me your experience, do you think them (Nurses in Lagos) are rude?

Prof. Tam David West Replies Asari Dokubo, Says He Shouldn't Be Taken Seriously

In reply to Asari Dokubo’s statement that Nigeria might go into war, well former Minister of petroleum, Prefessor Tam David-West has said Nigerians should not take him serious.

Prof Tam David-West in an interview with the Sunday Independent maintained that Asari- Dokubo has a penchant for running his mouth unnecessarily. Ouch!!!

This is how Daily Independent is reporting it.

Former Minister of Petroleum, Professor Tam David-West, has said nobody should take former militant leader, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, seriously over his comment that Nigeria might slide into full scale war should President Goodluck Jonathan fail to get re-election in 2015.

In an interview with Sunday Independent, David-West argued that Dokubo-Asari, who incidentally is his cousin and who he reportedly trained in school, must be ignored because he has a history of talking without thinking.

He recalled how Dokubo-Asari once branded Obafemi Awolowo a criminal for approving the derivation formula when he (Awolowo) was Finance Minister during the Yakubu Gowon administration.

“Is a man that would call Awolowo criminal responsible? A man that would call Chief Awolowo criminal is definitely insane! But that is what Dokubo-Asari called Awolowo before he then went to beg Gani Adams,” he said, adding that Dokubo-Asari also called the North parasites and assured the Igbo that they would have a shot at the Presidency after Jonathan’s second term.

Asari Dokubo Says- If I Am Arrested Again, Nigeria Will Be History (Video)

He says Nigeria will be history if he's ever arrested again. He said the last time he was arrested, Nigeria's oil production was reduced to 700 thousand barrel, this time it will be zero. Hmmmn!

Please watch this video carefully. Btw Asari Dokubo is the founder of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force, and has once been arrested some years ago.

Miraculous! Woman Rescued Alive 16 Days After Bangladesh Factory Collapse

A woman was pulled alive Friday from the ruins of a garment factory complex in Bangladesh more than 16 days after it collapsed and killed over 1,000 people.

The miraculous rescue came shortly after emergency officials announced that the woman called Reshmi had been located under the rubble of the nine-storey Rana Plaza complex after crying out for help.

She was found sheltering in the ruins of a basement mosque.

Rescuers cheered loudly as she was carried to an army ambulance, managing a faint smile at the crowds who had gathered.

The country’s fire service chief told AFP that the woman appeared to have had access to water during her marathon ordeal trapped underneath the wreckage of the nine-storey Rana Plaza complex, which had caved in on 24 April.

“She has been located in a gap between a beam and a column. Her name is Reshmi. She may have reserves of water or have drunk some of the water that we’ve pumped into the building,” Ahmed Ali told AFP.

One of the rescuers said that the woman had cried out for help as recovery teams sifted through the wreckage in the town of Savar on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.

“As we were clearing rubble, we called out if anyone was alive,” the unnamed rescuer told a private TV channel.

“Then we heard her saying ‘please save me, please save me’.”

Another rescuer said that the woman had had access to food supplies for the first fortnight of her ordeal but had run out two days ago.

In Nigeria, 17 Pregnant Teenagers Rescued From 'Baby Factory'

This is horrible and has to stop.  Following the post on baby factory uncovered by police in Abia State, this 'baby factory' has also been uncovered.

This is how the National Mirror is reporting it.

Police in Owerri, the Imo State capital, yesterday rescued 17 pregnant teenagers from an illegal motherless babies’ home. The home, Ahamefula Motherless Babies’ Home, located in Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area of the state, is allegedly owned by a middle-aged woman simply identified as ‘Madam One Thousand’.

Also rescued from the home after the police raid on the ‘baby factory’ were 11 children waiting to be sold to prospective buyers. The expectant girls, whose ages range between 14 and 17 years were said to have been impregnated by a 23-year-old boy simply identified as Oyibo.

The girls, who looked pale and unkempt, are at various stages of pregnancy. The pregnant teenagers wept profusely during their parade at the Police Command Headquarters in Owerri.

The state Commissioner of Police, Musa Mohammed Katsina, told journalists that the illegal home was raided by the Ambush Squad after a tipoff. Katsina said that the proprietor, who is now at large, was producing sachet water in the compound to deceive the public about what was actually going on in the home.

The commissioner added that when the police invaded the tightly secured compound, “17 pregnant minors were seen holed up in different rooms in the large compound with some of their kids playing around.”

The police also paraded Oyibo, who confessed to be responsible for all the pregnancies and a 55-year-old security man, Mr. Uzoamaka Okoli, from Nempi Amafor in Oru West Local Government.

David Moyes Emerges As New Manchester United Coach

Alex Ferguson after announcing his plans to retire from his post at old Trafford, he said: "When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes. David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic.

''I've admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this club.”

Moyes, 50, was out of contract at Everton in the summer and he has emerged as the favourite to take over from Ferguson.

Moyes said: “It’s a great honour to be asked to be the next manager of Manchester United.
